Warner or Value Based Interviews

Warner interviews, also known as value based interviews, are typically used in the recruitment process for settings where staff will be working with particularly vulnerable children, such as Children’s residential care.

Warner interviews need to be carried out by specially trained professionals and should never be undertaken by prospective line managers.

The mandate for this type of interview came from the report into abuse in Children’s Homes by Lord Warner in 1992.
